Litter Announcements

The Canadian Coton de Tulear Club has implemented a litter accreditation program. This is called the Gold Medal program.  It has been set up to acknowledge those breeders that have done more than the required health testing for both parents.  The CCTC requires that the following two health tests be done.

Required Tests:  

• CERF (mandatory)
• Patella Certified (OFA)

For a Gold Medal designation the following requirements need to be met.

Litter listings that have both parents with 5 or more health clearances (2 required, 3 elective) will receive a gold medal accreditation beside the listing.

For a Silver Medal designation the following requirements need to be met.

Litter listings that have both parents with 4 or more health clearances (2 required, 2 elective) will receive a silver medal accreditation beside the listing.

• Elective Tests (minimum of two or three):
• Hips Certified (OFA or OVC)
• Elbows Certified (OFA or OVC)
• Cardiac (OFA)
• Thyroid (OFA)
• CMR (Canine Multi-focal Retinopathy) (Optigen)
• NCA (Neonatal Cerebellar Ataxia) (University of Missouri)

The CCTC wishes to keep the Coton de Tulear breed healthy and applauds those breeders that are going beyond what is expected of them.
